For those of you playing along at home, this means no films or shows featuring Chinese martial arts used by actors who aren’t Chinese. 

Chuck Norris, Kareem Abdul Jabbar, who were both personally trained by Bruce Lee? Nope. Robert Downey Jr. uses Wing Chun in Iron Man 3 and the Sherlock Holmes series, and that must be stopped. There goes the Blade series and any other Wesley Snipes film. Jason Statham

Come to think, Jason Bourne uses Filipino kali and Jeet Kune Do, so we’ll have to change that too. And don’t even get me started on Michael Jai White.

Also, the Iron Fist story is about martial arts and nothing else, not a white kid being raised in a foreign culture and returning to America to claim his birthright. I mean, it’s not like the tv show and comic [SPOILERS] shows that he’s not remotely the first Iron Fist, and the people who trained him are multicultural, right? It’s not like his rival, who is a usually a native of Fantasy Asian Martial Arts Land, is played by an Indian-British actor, right?

Chuck wasn’t trained by Bruce Lee, he learned from a local Tang Soo Do school in a village outside Osan Air Base while he was in the Air Force, how ever, because Chuck and Bruce shared the ideology that martial arts SHOULD BE TAUGHT TO, BY, AND FOR EVERYONE, and their deep mutual love for the various arts and disciplines, they grew to be very fast and very close friends.

Ultimately isn’t the person who’s complaining about this stereotyping asian people? I don’t know, in my opinion it seems a little ridiculous and borderline racist to imply that anyone doing martial arts on screen should be asian.

^^Especially when you consider that a lot of Asian actors are nervous about being typecast and mostly offered more traditionally stereotypical roles for Asian people (i.e martial arts, kung fu, yakuza, etc, etc). I think it may have been Maggie Q who was talking about that at one point, where she gets offered a lot of those kinds of roles.

tl;dr, maybe that person should consider the fucking motivations of casting decisions before screaming “RACISM!”
